Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria is the third biggest lake in the world and it is the source of the Nile river. It is the widest lake in Africa having its water shared by three East African countries; Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, rich in flora and fauna and therefore a source of income for many African people. Largest Tanzanian town on the lake Victoria is Mwanza, surrounded by several lake islands. The lake was renamed Lake Victoria after Queen Victoria by the explorer John Hanning Speke.
