Qatar is one of the smallest and one of the wealthiest Arab countries. It is located in southwest Asia on the Qatar Peninsula on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf. The state of Qatar has a land border only with Saudi Arabia, while the rest of the country is surrounded by the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Bahrain. The population is about 2.8 million inhabitants, of which over two-thirds are of the Muslim religion. The people of Qatar are proud of their traditionalism, and the laws of this state find their roots in Sharia law. Visitors to this country should keep this in mind, primarily because of the clothing.
