Located in the east of the country, Spiš castle is the largest castle in Slovakia and one of the largest and most impressive castles in central Europe as well. Spiš castle was built in the 12th century and was placed on UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 1993. Castle is inhabited since the 1780s after a great fire has ruined it. Have a hike from Spiške Podhradie to the castle and spend a whole day there, especially on weekends when costumed actor shows make the castle live and vibrant.
