Green Island is the first artificial island in the Persian Gulf, for which it is now well known. This island was opened to the public in 1988, and ever since it, has attracted a large number of tourists. The number of tourists, probably spoiled by the luxury of other artificial islands in the Gulf, resent the somewhat outdated aesthetics and describe the island as if time stood still in the 1980s. There are announcements of the reconstruction of the Green Island, but even now, the island is a fantastic place to escape from traffic, for a laid-back afternoon in a beautiful environment with a spectacular view of the city.
