Lake Kivu

Lake Kivu is located on the eastern border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and forms part of the border with Rwanda. 58% of it belongs to Congo. This lake is subject to the limnic eruption, which occurs approximately once in 1000 years and is described as a lake explosion and causes the death of living beings in the lake and its surroundings. The lake, with its 475 meters depth, is among the deepest in the world.
