Catedral de Sal

The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira is a prime example of modern Colombian architecture. Built-in a salt mine at a depth of 200 meters on the place where miners prayed to saints for protection and help in the depths of the mine, this cathedral was designed by Mexican architect Carlos Mijares. This area is also popular because of the archeological sites of one of the first human settlements in South America, El Abra.
