Iskanderkul
Iskanderkul is a glacial lake located about 65 kilometers northwest of Dushanbe. This lake is located near the Gissar mountain range, Fann mountains, and is part of the Iskanderkulsky Nature Refuge. The access road that leads to the lake passes through beautiful landscapes. The rocks are interspersed with iron oxide and copper oxide, so the red and blue-green shades of sediments alternate. As tempting as it may seem, only a few visitors dare to swim in Iskanderkul, because the water is cold even in the summer months, primarily because the lake is at an altitude of 2195 meters.
