Cotton Tree

Probably the most impressive landmark in Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown, is Cotton Tree. It is unknown how old the tree is, but what is known that it was in this place as far back as 1787 when freed slaves from New Scotland landed on the nearby coast and came under this tree to pray. Even today, people pray here and bring offerings to the ancestors under this magnificent tree.
