Monte Titano is the highest peak of San Marino with a height of 739 meters above sea level. The city of San Marino was built on the ridge of this mountain, and Monte Titano and its three fortresses have always been a symbol of San Marino. Almost all depictions of Saint Marinus are with Monte Titano in his hands. The 55-hectare area that covers the city and part of the mountain was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.
