Mount Karisimbi

Mount Karisimbi is a volcano located in the northwest of the country, on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The height of this dormant giant is 4507 meters above sea level, and it is one of the highest equatorial mountains in the world. The last eruption was around 8000 BC, and this mountain is much better known for its snowy top than hot lava. The top of Mount Karisimbi is covered with snow in June, July, and August, during the dry season.
