Serra da Estrela is home to the highest mountain peak in continental Portugal. Nicknamed the Star Mountains, the summit offers a dramatic natural feature. The mountains are home to the Serra da Estrela sheepdog, a breed unique to Portugal and creamy Serra cheese - arguably Portugal's finest cheese.
