Bridge of the Americas
The Bridge of the Americas is the most famous in Panama and was an important part of the Pan American Highway from its construction in 1962 until the completion of the Centennial Bridge in 2004, which took over the highway link across the Panama Canal exceeded its daily vehicle capacity. The bridge was built with US funds and replaced the Thatcher ferry that operated almost at the same point where this bridge stands.
