Masaya Volcano is one of the most accessible volcanoes in Nicaragua. It is located about 20 kilometers south of the capital Managua, in the Parque Nacional Volcán Masaya. In this 54-square-meter national park, there are two volcanoes, Masaya and Nindirí, which form five craters, the most popular of which is Cráter Santiago, where lava still boils. Visitors are only allowed 15 minutes to admire the sight of the lava because the sulfur fumes are extremely strong and can affect health. There are many hiking trails in the area, which lead visitors to the most beautiful views in this part of the country.
