Tongariro National Park

Tongariro National Park, as the oldest national park in New Zealand, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, both for its natural features and importance to the Maori culture. The park was one of the film sets for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The magnificent landscape is often highlighted by a scenic Lake Taupo, a caldera of the Taupo Volcano.
