Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is the oldest national park in the country, opened in 1973. Because of wide biodiversity, UNESCO included it on the Natural World Heritage sites list in 1984. This park is a natural habitat of Greater One-horned Rhinoceros, Basking mugger crocodile, Bengal tiger, gharial, leopard, sloth bears, Bengal foxes, and many other species. Sometimes elephants come from Valmiki National Park in search of females. Several parallel projects for the conservation and reproduction of endangered species are underway in the park, and many are, unfortunately, critically endangered both in Nepal and around the world.
