The National Museum of the History of Moldova is located in Chisinau, on the site of a former Boys Lyceum. The original building was damaged in the 1977 earthquake to such an extent that it had to be rebuilt. The museum's collection includes an incredible 322.172 items, from prehistory onwards. There are several permanent exhibitions and a carefully selected program of visiting exhibitions, which always results in good attendance at the museum, with both local and foreign visitors. The permanent setting located in the basement, called Treasure house is among the most popular ones.
