Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral
Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral is one of the most famous, largest, and oldest landmarks in Mexico City. The construction of this magnificent building took 240 years, so many styles and architectural solutions were used during construction. At this place, there was a small cathedral that was for a long time too small for the needs of the growing capital of the then New Spain. Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral was the place of the most important events: coronations and appointments for presidents, and kings and national heroes' final resting place is in the crypt. It is not possible to visit the entire facility freely only during the Mass, but otherwise, visitors have access to the cathedral, with or without a guide.
