Chicabal Lake

Chicabal Lake is a volcanic crater lake, located on the northwestern highlands of Guatemala. The height of the water surface is 2900 meters above sea level. The lake is of great importance to the Mam people, descendants of the Maya, who offer gifts to the gods on altars on the shores of this lake. There is also a ban on visits in early May so that ceremonies can take place without interruption.
