Tiya World Heritage Site

In the very center of Ethiopia lies the archeological site of Tiya. Stone pillars with carved sword symbols and various mysterious symbols were found at this site. Archaeologists have concluded that it is a prehistoric cemetery between 3100 and 3300 years old. There are about 120 stone pillars, 32 of which are decorated. Tiya World Heritage Site has been under UNESCO protection since 1980.
