Santa Ana Volcano

Santa Ana Volcano or Ilamatepec is a volcano in the western part of El Salvador. With its 2,381 meters above sea level, this is the highest volcano, and at the same time the highest peak in the country. The volcano has been active countless times since the 16th century, and the last eruption was in 2005, after 100 years of dormancy. Not far from the volcano is Lago de Coatepeque, and at the northeastern foot of the volcano lies the city of Santa Ana.
