Las Terrenas
If you're looking for a combination of a busy little town packed with all the tourist features and a great laid-back beach, Las Terrenas offers exactly that! It was founded in 1946 by then-president Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. He ordered resettling of the rural inhabitants of Santo Domingo to this little town. Over the years the old fishermen's cabins have been slowly transformed into bars, restaurants, and shops.
