Arenal Volcano National Park

Costa Rica is one of the pioneers of ecotourism. One of the areas under state protection is Arenal Volcano National Park. There are two volcanoes in the park, the active one Arenal, and the extinct one Chato, whose crater has a lagoon. Many species of endemic flora and fauna can be seen here. The park is among the most visited destinations in the northern part of Costa Rica.
