Tsarevets Fortress

Tsarevets Fortress is located in the city of Veliko Tarnovo, once a capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. This medieval fortress was used as a headquarters of the Bulgarian king, with large strategical importance. Today ruins of the palace are one of the most visited tourist destinations in Bulgaria. During the tourist season, visitors can watch the ceremonial changing of the guard.
