Xunantunich

Xunantunich is an Ancient Maya archaeological site composed of six major plazas surrounded by more than 25 palaces and temples. The site is located near the Guatemala border in Belize inland, just a short distance from San Ignacio. It is believed that Xunantunich was founded during the Preclassic Maya Era, roughly 1000 BC.
