Hohenwerfen Castle

Surrounded by the Berchtesgaden Alps, Hohenwerfen Castle is a medieval rock castle once owned by the Habsburg family. It was built between 1075 and 1078 and served as a military base but also as a residence of Salzburg's rulers. Today a museum, this castle is a popular visitors' destination, offering numerous attractions.
