Plaza Independencia

Plaza Independencia is the main square in Montevideo. Around it, you can spot important buildings such as the Solís Theater, Estévez Palacio, Torre Ejecutiva, Puerta de la Ciudadela, while in its center is a mausoleum to the Uruguayan hero José Artigas, in which his remains are kept. Plaza Independencia is the point where the old part of the city ends from the modern, busy Montevideo.
