Hisor Fortaleza
Hisor Fortaleza is a historical site only some 15 kilometers southwest of the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. Historically, there was a settlement on this place from the 6th century BC onwards. Originally built by the Achaemenid Empire, in Hisor Fortaleza history it is mentioned that it was conquered by Alexander the Great, the Mongols, the Timurids, and the Arab Caliphates. The fortress complex is beautifully restored, kept neat and clean, and there are souvenir shops and food vendors where you can refresh yourself with food and drinks. Tajiks are very proud of this fortress, so they put it on a 20 samani banknote.
